The main purpose of the role of the Academic Coach is to facilitate and advance academic study skills through group sessions with students wishing to progress to university or obtain their first role in the workplace.

The core purpose of the role is to develop student’s academic rigor e.g. revision techniques, essay planning and writing, exam preparation, using Harvard referencing. 

You will be confident to deliver targeted 1:1 and group coaching sessions helping students to set goals and overcome barriers to learning, referring to support and student services, as well as liaising with teachers and tutors about students’ study skills development and working collaboratively to achieve academic skills development and progress. 

We currently have Academic Coach roles available at our Reading campus, working 37 hours per week, term time only (0.84FTE). We also have a part time, 22.2 hours per week term time only (0.51 FTE) role available at our Bracknell campus.

What do you need to be successful in this role? 

You will be educated to A level standard or above coupled with the experience of developing and collaborating with young people.  You will have the ability to design and deliver inspiring content to shape the outcomes of the students' academic performance.

\r\n

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. You will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.

\r\n
